The Qinghai Pavilion is taking shape at the World Expo site in Shanghai. The major outer wall has been completed, revealing that the venue is shaped like flowing water. It will be open to the public, and explore the relationship between the city and nature.

The Qinghai Pavilion is one of the Expo's few open-air venues. Its theme is water of China, Source of Three Rivers.

China's three major rivers - the Yangtze River, Yellow River and Lancang River - all flow from Qinghai.

Its shape also represents the Chinese character "Yuan", literally meaning origin or source.

Wang Wenlu, deputy director of expert team, Qinghai Pavilion, said, "The color green on the outer wall of the pavilion is a symbol of the biology of Qinghai, while the white on the wall represents the Kunlun Mountains. If you look at it from the side, it looks like the snowy mountain and the green grassland. "

The design aims to display the close bond between the city and nature. Well-preserved resources are a must for any city's sustainable development. That's how Qinghai interprets "Better City, Better Life", the theme of the Shanghai World Expo.
