Kim Hee-Sun, who hasn't been seen for a while, added an amusing atmosphere to the movie's launch ceremony. She even exchanged banter on location with Francis Ng, who plays her on-screen brother.

Set during China's Warring States Period more than two thousand years ago, the movie centers on the rivalry between military strategists Sun Bin and Pang Juan. Kim Hee-Sun has the role of Pang Fei, Pang Juan's sister. Although a supporting part, Kim says it gives her a sense of contentment playing a married woman.

Kim Hee-Sun, actress, said, "My role this time is a consort of a general. My previous roles were mostly as a princess. Now I'm married so this role fits me better."

The leading character of statesman Sun Bin is played by Sun Honglei. Sun says that the role gives him much more space for his imagination and fulfills his dream of portraying a versatile role that no actor has ever attempted to play in recent years.

The total investment in the movie is around 120 million yuan. Apart from actors from China and South Korea, "Warring States" also features Japanese star Kiichi Nakai.
