Grand events such as the 2010 Shanghai World Expo historically draw not only large numbers of visitors from the host country, but many thousands of guests from all around the world.

One person who knows quite a lot about this trend is Anna Jackson, the curator for the Asian Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum in Britain.

Over the years she has been studying and scrutinizing expositions held by countries around the world.

Recently she published a book "International Expositions 1851 to 2010", chronicling the history of worldwide cultural events.
