China says it will continue to improve the system for the RMB exchange rate while keeping its value at a reasonable level. 

That's what the Director of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange and also vice-governor of the People's Bank of China, Yi Gang, told the press on Tuesday. 

The announcement immediately became the news of the day.
