Big changes have taken place in the past 60 years. China is now one of the world´s major economies. And the changes continue, as the country grows stronger. The ruling Communist Party is now building the country into what it calls a "prosperous and harmonious society."

To mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China on October 1st, CCTV International presents a month-long special series on today´s China.

60 years is just short period of time in human history. Nevertheless, in the past six decades the Chinese people have made huge progress in developing the nation.

Thanks to our reporters´ efforts, we witnessed the many different aspects of change in the People´s Republic. 50 stories may not be enough to say all there is to say about China, but the 50 reports tell the tales of rich and poor, old and young, celebrities and the man on the street, and give us a chance to share their joys and worry, and join them in the expectation of a better future.

The one month journey across China has come to an end, but our quest to examine the Chinese spirit of rejuvenation, and spread it to the rest of the world, will never end.
