Time now to pay a final tribute to two of China's most famous scholars. Renowned Chinese scholar Ji Xianlin passed away of illness at the age of 98 on Saturday.

Born in 1911, Ji Xianlin is best remembered for his achievements in research, including on ancient Indian aboriginal languages, primeval Buddhist languages and Sanskritic literature. He also gained distinction for translating works from ancient Indian and primeval Buddhist languages. Ji was well-versed in 12 foreign languages. He served as a professor at Peking University, as well as the university's deputy president.
Also on Saturday, another outstanding Chinese philosopher, Ren Jiyu passed away at the age of 93. Ren served as the honorary director of the National Library of China. He achieved great distinction as a religious scholar and historian.
