Special Report: Afghan presidential election |

The presidential election in Afghanistan has won praise from many international organizations.

On Thursday, the United Nations' special envoy to Afghanistan, Kai Eide, said the presidential election was an "achievement" after voting ended without major security incidents. The UN Security Council also congratulated the vote, and condemned what it called "the actions of those who sought to deny the voice of the Afghan people."

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen declared the election a success, and praised the country's security forces.
