Brazil has world's highest A/H1N1 death toll

Brazil's health ministry has confirmed that the country's death toll from the A/H1N1 virus has risen to 557. Brazil now has the most fatalities from the A/H1N1 flu.

The country's toll is 35 higher than the United States, the world's second largest. Argentina has the third highest death toll with 439.

According to the World Health Organization, about 20 percent of the world's A/H1N1 flu fatalities occurred in Brazil.

The Brazilian health ministry says it has invested one billion US dollars to purchase additional Tamiflu stocks. It will also develop 73 million doses of the new vaccine.
