Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has started his five-nation European tour in Belgium. He arrived in Brussels on Wednesday.
In a written statement, he said China and Belgium have maintained sound relations since forging diplomatic ties 38 years ago. He hopes to cement bilateral relations through his visit.
The vice president will hold talks with Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.
The trip will also take him to Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania.
