US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is defending the US military strategy in Afghanistan and says President Barack Obama's decision on whether to send more troops will come after the country's presidential runoff election on November 7th.

In an interview with US television networks in Islamabad, Clinton clarified her earlier comment that US President Obama would announce his decision on Afghan strategy after the presidential elections were finally resolved.

Margaret Warner, PBS Reporter, said, "That took weeks and weeks and weeks last time. Are you saying he's going to wait till all the challenges are settled?"

Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, said, "Well no, I think, I just said he's going to do it after the election, so when that is is up to the president. The president said we will reevaluate this after the election."

Clinton also says President Obama will not "micromanage" how his top military officers run the war.

During an interview with ABC television, Clinton was asked whether the US was "losing the war" in Afghanistan.

Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, said, "No, I don't think so, but I do think that, not only as General McChrystal, but as others have said the Taliban has some momentum."

Clinton concluded her visit to Pakistan on Friday. There was tension during her tour, revealing clear signs of strain between the two nations despite months of public insistence they were in agreement on the fight to tackle militant extremism in Afghanistan.
