Gunman kills 2, injures 6 in Orlando, US

The US has been rocked by another deadly shooting, spree - just one day after the Fort Hood military base slayings in Texas. This time, a gunman allegedly killed two people and injured six others in the shooting in Orlando, Florida.

The suspect has been identified as a 40-year-old engineer, Jason Rodriguez. He had been hiding at his mother's home when police arrested him. Rodriguez is suspected of opening fire at the Gateway Center high-rise office building in downtown Orlando. The building has offices belonging to his former employer, an engineering firm.

According to a representative for the firm, Rodriguez was fired from his job in 2007.

Local media in Orlando reported that two people had been killed in the shooting. The city's police department would not confirm the number of casualties.
