Palestinian activists have managed to remove a segment of an Israeli-built barrier in the West Bank village of Qalandiya.
The action was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The barrier runs along the line between Israel and the West Bank and cuts into Palestinian territory at certain parts. Israel started building the barrier in the West Bank seven years ago amid a surge in suicide bombings.
It caused controversy from the outset. Israel says the barrier is essential to its security. But Palestinians claim it to be a land grab and have been holding regular protests.
Abdullah Abu Rahma, "Resistance to the wall" Committee, said, "We don't want a wall. We started to destroy this wall here in Palestinian territory that separates us and our land. And we want to go to the Jerusalem, to Al Aqsa, to the Holy Land."
