7 killed in India bombings

2009-11-23 12:48 BJT

Suspected militants set off two bombs within minutes of each other outside a police station in India's restive northeast on Sunday, killing seven people and wounding more than 50.

Five people died instantly after the blasts in Nalbari town and two died later in hospital. A third suspected bomb in a market a few miles away turned out to be a firecracker. Authorities think the militant separatist group United Liberation Front of Asom was behind the blasts.
