2010-01-02 14:53 BJT

The opening of the Wuhan-Guangzhou high speed railway, is changing the way people make their holiday plans. Travellers from Guangdong, Hubei and Hunan provinces are now taking advantage of the fact they can go further in less time.

more than 3-hundred people arrive at the station in Guangzhou at 7am. They're preparing to board the train bound for Hunan Hengyang, for their new year holiday.

The new Wuhan-Guangzhou line allows them to cover much greater distances. Passenger numbers from Guangdong to Wuhan surged on January 1st.

"This is better for two reasons. On one hand, we could experience the high speed and comfort of the new railway, while we could also enjoy the beautiful view on the way." A Guangzhou resident said.

The trains from Wuhan in Hubei province and Binzhou in Hunan province to Guangzhou in Guangdong province are also full.

One Binzhou resident said, "It's very fast, and convenient. It just takes one hour from Binzhou to Guangzhou, which used to take four hours. I would come again in the future."

"It's fantastic! It's so fast! And the train looks like a plane from the front."
