Cross-Strait ties show a good moment

The top political advisor Jia Qinglin says the time for greater communication between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan has come. And he also hoped for a new period of peaceful development of cross-strait relations.

Jia says the cross-strait relations are showing good momentum toward peaceful development. Currently, he adds, the parties are at a key phase with many opportunities, although problems and obstacles also exit. Under the statement released Friday after the two-day meeting, the Taiwan-related work will focus on building up institutionalized cross-strait exchange, deepening political mutual trust between the Communist Party of China and the Kuomingtang Party, as well as between the two sides across the strait, and continuing to oppose secessionist activities. Other goals also include expanding reciprocal investments.
