Israeli rehabilitation of shrines in West Bank draws criticism

2010-02-26 14:04 BJT

The Israeli plan to rehabilitate Jewish shrines in the occupied West Bank is drawing Palestinian and world criticism.

On Thursday, Israel defended its actions, saying the move will not affect Muslim worshippers or change the status quo. But as Xu Jiaying finds out, these words have not been enough to extinguish Palestinian anger.

These Palestinian teenagers are using traditional methods to voice their protests, throwing stones against machine guns.

The intensifying daily clashes are pushing the bigger-picture confrontation to the brink.

Israel offered the reasons for its plan.
