Familiar faces in NPC's deputies

The National People's Congress, or NPC, is the top law making body in China. It is composed of more than 2,000 deputies.

Known as the China's top legislative body, the deputies are elected from provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, and the PLA. As usual, you can find some familiar faces attending this year's plenary session. 

Shen Jilan, was born in December 1929, in Pingshun county, Shanxi Province.

She has been a deputy, and the only deputy, from the first national People's Congress in 1954 to the present the 11th one. She is thus called China's "oldest congresswoman."

Shen Jilan now is the deputy secretary of the CPC Xigou Village Committee in Shanxi Province.

She has witnessed the development of Chinese democracy and the building of the country's legal system.
