Nigerian rioters kill more than 200 people in religious violence

2010-03-09 13:20 BJT

Rioters in Nigeria have killed more than 200 people in the aftermath of religious violence.

Sunday's attacks in three mostly Christian villages appeared to be reprisals following the January unrest in the regional capital Jos, where most of the victims were Muslims.

Meanwhile, Muslims are complaining they are being denied jobs and other benefits by the Christian-dominated government.

Jos is under a military curfew so it is unclear how the attackers managed to elude the restrictions.
