The clashes between the opposition demonstrators and the police have destabilized social order in Kyrgyzstan. Government troops opened fire on thousands of protesters.

The opposition isn't giving up without a fight.

On Wednesday, anti-government demonstrators stormed a government office in the city of Talas, taking the regional governor hostage.

They called for a nationwide protest, vowing to defy President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, whom they call "authoritarian."
