International Atomic Energy Agency Director Yukiya Amano says Iran has maintained basic nuclear safeguards on material they have declared.

Yukiya Amano, International Atomic Energy Agency Director, said, "I cannot exclude that possibility but, in Iran, verification and comprehensive safeguards have been going on and declared materials are confirmed to stay in peaceful purposes."

Amano says all nuclear and radioactive material should be well-secured because there is an imminent and real risk of nuclear threat. He emphasizes his role is to help member states to strengthen their security efforts . It will include those -- like Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea -- that were not invited to the Washington summit.
