The violin industry in Xiqiao began in the 1960's. Now it has developed for over 40 years. Previously, Xiqiao was an ordinary farm town. The population was only about 20,000. Its industry was underdeveloped. The locals lived a relatively poor life.

Then the local government decided to make a series of investment policies to encourage the establishment of violin factories. Now the factory produces about 1,000 violins per day. Most of them are exported to European and American countries like Germany, France, Italy and the US. In Xiqiao, there are 11 factories. It has become in fact the world's biggest violin-making base.
