Sunday saw the final of the women's basketball in Qingdao. Defending champions team PLA beat the Liaoning team by a convincing margin for their seventh successive National Games title.

But it was Liaoning who got the upper hand from the beginning and surged into a 15-10 lead with five points from Chen Xiaoli. Team PLA adjusted their strategy quickly and sent Liu Dan on court, a move that worked well. Liu got nine points for the PLA in the first quarter and was the main contributor for an 18 point run in the second quarter for the champions. They held on the lead to end the first half 48-31.

Although Liaoning pulled out all the stops to fight back, the PLA controlled the rhythm tightly and the advantage was theirs all the way by at least 15 points. In the last half of the final quarter, team PLA sent their bench players on court and won the match 90-68. They have won gold in this event from the 5th National Games, not giving any other team the chance to win the event to this day.
