--The top swimmers included Jiao Liuyang and Liu Zige.  Liu Zige won the gold medal and set a new record in the 200m butterfly at the Beijing Olympics while Jiao Liuyang took the silver.

--Another veteran, former Asian World record holder Zhou Yafei, would figure into the result as well.

-- World-class swimmers made this a highlight of the swimming action in Jin'an.

--  Liu Zige got the lead in the first 50 meters. She won the gold medal in the women's 200 meter butterfly at the Beijing Olympics last year, and was already pulling away from the pack at the turn in the 100 meters in Jin'an, she would approach the wall with a sizeable advantage over second place...and touched at 56.07 seconds, that's a new Asian record.

--Taking a second look at the race on replay. Liu's result is only 0.01 second from the world record...her main event is the 200m butterfly, so her win the 100 surprised some of the experts at the National Games.

--- Liu won the silver medal in Rome World Swimming championships in 200m butterfly. She'll get her chance to make her mark in the 200 at the National Games in the final on Tuesday.
