Jiang Fan races to gold in women's 3km

In the women's 3 kilometer individual pursuit, Jiang Fan of PLA team took on Beijing's Sun Feiyan, 19-year-old Jiang was this year's National champion while Sun was the national champion of 2008. The duel was a tight contest, but the 19-year-old rising star Jiang gradually built a slim margin eventually, Jiang beat Sun in a time of 3 minutes 41.650 seconds.

The result also meant that Jiang failed to shatter her own Asian mark of 3 minutes 38.643 seconds she set in this year's national championship. Jiang has been practicing cycling for almost 6 years, and she is definitely one of the favorites to win the gold medal at the next year's Asian Games.

In the bronze medal playoff race, it was contest between two local riders, Liang Min and Yang Min. Yang, wearing No. 40 jersey, eventually cruised to victory with a time of 3 minutes 46.600 seconds to win bronze medal.
