Legend markswomen Zhang Shan takes silver

Former Olympic champion Zhang Shan added a silver medal to her skeet shooting tally at the 11th National Games. The 1.63 meter tall shooter hails from Sichuan province. She scored 95 to place second on Wednesday. The 41-year-old took a total of two gold and two silver medals at the elite national meet where she's appeared six times. The 24-year-old Zhang scored a total of 223 targets out of a maximum 225 to win the gold medal at the Barcelona Olympic games, becoming the first woman in the Olympic history to win the mixed shooting title.

Yu Xiumin won the event. She grabbed a team gold medal and broke the world record in the skeeting world championships with her teammates in Cyprus two years ago. The 26-year-old stayed calm on Wednesday to beat the famous markswoman Zhang Shan with 97 points to earn a gold medal for Jiangsu province.

Bao Cunmei took the bronze medal for Guizhou province.

It was the first time for Yu Xiumin to step on the podium after three appearances in the National Games.
