A surprise result was guaranteed in the men's 200 meters. Defending champion Yang Yaozu flamed-out earlier in the heats, as did the glasses-wearing, flying-man, Hu Kai.

So the audience focused its eyes on Li Mingxuan of Heilongjiang, Huang Wei of Shanghai and Huang Xiang of Sichuan. Li Mingxuan finished first in the morning heats, and he came through again in the final. The 23-year-old crossed the finish line first in a career-best time of 20.79 seconds. Huang Wei trailed by just 9-one-hundredths of a second, edging  Huang Xiang by only 1-one-hundredth of a second.

Li Mingxuan stood on the top step of the podium for the men's 200m. Li's coach said the 23-year-old trained so hard that the runner often dropped to the ground in exhaustion right after practice. The coach applauded Li for a well-deserved victory in the 200m sprint.
