A boxing star took center stage in men's 48 kg category. Beijing Olympic champion Zou Shiming represented Guizhou against Qin Yongsheng from Chongqing in the semi-final.

Qin took an advantage with an accurate and strong attack, but the Olympic gold medalist Zou showed more sophisticated skills and he led 8-0 going into the second round.

That's when Zou began to speed up the pace. He punched quickly with good combination from both hands, and increased his lead to 14-1.

The judges had the option to invoke a rule that would stop such a lopsided match at this point.  They decided to declare an end to the competition in concern for the boxers' safety. So Zou Shiming eased past his opponent in just  five minutes, and advanced to the final, where he will face Li Jiazhao from Guangdong.
