Jia Peng wins men's shot put

The men's shot put contestants staged a fierce battle on Monday. 10th National Games runner up Xu Zhongnan joined bronze medalist Tian Chunying and Jia Peng for the title.

The veteran Jia Peng managed 19.20 meters in his 4th shot, and that was enough to shoot the Liaoning athlete to the top of the standings.

Jia finally claimed the gold medal, with Guo Yanxiang from Shandong finishing second with 19.11 meters.

Xu Zhongnan of Heilongjiang took the bronze.

19 athletes competed in the men's javelin throw final. The lineup featured defending champion Li Rongxiang along with last National Games runner-up Chen Qi. Chen Qi made a good performance as he made 79.57 meters in his third throw.

And that earned the Shanghai athlete the title, with Liu Yanhong second with 77.09 meters. Veteran Li Rongxiang didn't make the podium. He only managed 16th place in his 5th National Games appearance.
