The victory ended Federer's run of three straight titles at the tournament. Djokovic's win took on particular importance because the event held so much significance for his opponent.
Federer claimed the title each of the last three occasions, and it's a big deal for the Swiss player because the tournament is held in his home town. But it soon became clear that Djokovic had the edge in this match. The players fought-out a close first set, but Djokovic scored the crucial break in the ninth game and grabbed a 5-4 lead.
