Athletic Bilbao crash out of Copa del Rey

A draw equaled a disappointing loss for Athletic Bilbao supporters Wednesday night. The side crashed out of the King's Cup after a 2-2 home-pitch deadlock with second division Rayo Vallecano.Athletic Bilbao lost the two leg tie 4-2 on aggregate.

Four minutes before halftime in the Spanish football tournament. Fernando Llorente manages to get free and send a bobbling header into the back of the net. Llorente gives Athletic a 1-0 lead.

Midway through the second half, the hosts had more chances to score, but they failed to take advantage. And some strong work from Rayo Vallecano defenders put them on track for the equalizer. Martinez Cervera Angel glided his way through to the Athletic goal and launched a strong volley. The goalkeeper had no chance and Rayo Vallecano leveled the score at 1-1.

Barely a minute later, Athletic scored another goal. A free kick started the action and Aquinaga Javi Martinez ended it with a clear header. Martinez celebrates another Athletic lead, 2-1 over a surprisingly tough Rayo Vallecano team.

With little more than ten minutes remaining, Vallecano's players showed how tough they really are Eduard Albacar hammered home a free kick from the spot to tie the score again. Rayo Vallecano wins 4-2 on aggregate and move into the tournament's final 16.
