The last four European spots for the World Cup finals have now been taken. First we head to Slovenia, who played host in their qualifying match against Russia.

Enjoying a 2-1 lead from the first leg match, Guus Hiddink led Russia to visit the Arena Petrol.

The Slovenians poured forward early on. In the 4th minute, Milivoje Novakovic was clean through - but Russian goalkeeper saved well.

Then another chance for Slovenia, Andraz Kirm's cross hit defender and bounced back off the post.

Eventually the home side scored, just before half-time, Valter Birsa's pass stabbed home by Zlatko Dedic. The aggregate score tied at 2-2, but Slovenia held away goal advantage.

Russia were struggling, substitute Alexander Kerzhakov sent off for kicking.

But Russia still got another chance to come back, Handanovic pulled off a smart save at his near post.

The referee's whistle confirmed a 1-0 victory for Slovenia, they made it through to their second finals, with a chance to improve on an inauspicious showing in 2002.
