China demonstrated its strength as a weightlifting powerhouse at last year's Beijing Olympics, and is following-up with another dominating show at the World Weightlifting Championships.

The Chinese lifters grabbed their fifth gold medal at the Championship on Monday. Li Xueying finished in first place in the womens' 58 kilogram class. She began with a lift of 100 kilograms in the snatch event, the only woman to do so. The 19-year-old's best lift was 107.

Nastassia Novikava from Belarus emerged as Li's strongest competitor. She succeeded at 100 kg, but failed her attempt at 106.

The clean and jerk event came next. Li started at 125 kilos. She eventually lifted 132 in the clean and jerk to finish with a total of 239 kilograms, which was good enough to easily hand her the gold. Novikava from Belarus hoisted the silver. Third place went to Ukrainian lifter Yuliya Kalina.
