The seven-time French champions from Lyon moved up to second place in Ligue 1 despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Stade Rennes.
First half, no score, until Rennes took the lead behind Ismael Bangoura's pass to Asamoah Gyan. Rennes went ahead inside 15 minutes with Gyan's eighth goal of the season.
Two of Lyon's best chances of the opening period fell to Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian midfielder saw his 29th minute free-kick flash wide. Still 1-0 Rennes.
Three minutes before half-time, Lisandro Lopez found a way through the Rennes defense and kicked the ball into the left-hand corner of the net. 1-1.

Second half, Moussa Sow crossed for midfielder Bruno Cheyrou. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris bailed out his team with an instinctive block.
With just two minutes to play Lyon substitute Bafetimbi Gomis broke into the open field, but Diallo and the crossbar combined to deny his shot and keep the score tied 1-1 until the end.
