The national players from England finished well. Ian Poulter sank this birdie putt at the 18th.

He and Ross Fisher carded an eight-under-par round of 64 for a 26-under-par total of 262, and fourth place outright.

Italians Francesco and Edoardo Molinari came through for their country. Francesco drained a long putt for back-to-back birdies after holing out at the 13th. He and Edoardo moved to 29-under-par.

It was par golf after that. Francesco played a great recovery from the sand at the 18th. He set up a par putt for his elder brother.

And an ecstatic Edoardo finally got in on the act as he holed the winning par putt to spark celebrations for the siblings. They became the first brothers to lift the John Jay Hopkins trophy in the 55th staging of the event. Each pocketed a share of the winning cheque for 1.7 million US dollars.
