Set on a white background, the name Sochi is spelled in blue lower case writing followed by the website address dot Ru, with the Olympic rings placed discreetly underneath. Officials hope the logo encompasses the spirit of the games, whilst making a statement about Russia. Meanwhile, security arrangements for the 2014 Winter Games have been one of the main issues for the IOC. Sochi's location in the combustible Caucasus region has raised concern, but Rogge says he has full faith the games will progress safely.
Jacques Rogge, the IOC President, says, "The Russian authorities are aware of the need to have a secure environment and we fully trust them. They are doing all the efforts needed for that and we fully trust they will deliver."
Dmitry Chernyshenko, the president of the Winter Games Organizing Committee, says, "We will definitely do everything. We will definitely do it and we'll reflect the brand, the claim that is modern Russia."
