Snooker now, Ding Junhui made two superb breaks in the last two frames of his match against Ali Carter to score a 9-8 victory over and reach the UK Championship semi-finals.

Things stayed pretty much neck and neck until the interval, with the match going down to the wire at 8-8 after Ding rolled in a 95 to force the decider. The 22-year-old only needed one chance as a cracking long red set up a match-winning 76.

Ding's comeback win books him a meeting with Stephen Maguire in the last four.
