The world's No. 1 golfer, Tiger Woods, will return to professional golf at the U.S. Masters in Augusta, Georgia, in early April.

Woods has not competed since his victory at the Australian Masters on Nov. 15. He opted to make his comeback at Augusta National where he won the first of his 14 majors in 1997.

The 34-year-old American announced in a statement on Tuesday that he views the tournament with great respect. Woods stated that after a long and necessary time away from the game, he feels ready to start his season at Augusta.

He had withdrawn from the game after details of adulterous affairs surfaced late last year. Woods has won the Masters four times. Some of his fellow golfers were happy to hear about his return to the game.

Professional golfer Adam Scott said, "Well I'm happy to hear he's coming back sooner rather than later because no one knew when that was going to be. It's great. it's great for the game of golf that he's coming back to the Masters and hopefully carry on from there."
