Melbourne Victory supporters knew anything less than a win against Beijing would mean elimination from the Asian Champions League. But a favorable result for Beijing would move them another step closer to the quarterfinals and the Chinese club quickly put on the pressure - Huang Bowen shooting wide of the far post.

Melbourne rarely threatened, but substitute Marvin Angulo had the hosts best chance when he cut in from the left wing and forced a great save from Beijing keeper Yang Zhi with a long range shot.

The result keeps Beijing on course for a spot in the last 16 of the competition, but Melbourne Victory now cannot progress.
