Pakistan's government has expressed hope that elections in Afghanistan will bring stability to its western neighbor.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit told a news briefing in Islamabad that the fate of the two countries, are intertwined.

Abdul Basit, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesman, said, "We wish Afghanistan all the best and we hope that, as a result of this election we would see stability in that country, prosperity in that country, because stability and peace in that country is of strategic importance to Pakistan and we hope to see that as a result of this election."
