Iraq sad over Shiite leader's passing

Iraqis in the capital city of Baghdad are voicing their sorrow following Thursday's news of the death of Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, one of the nation's most influential Shiite leaders.

A kingmaker in Iraq's internal politics as head of the country's largest Shiite party, he died of cancer late Wednesday at the age of 59.

Baghdad Resident, said, "Iraq has lost an important person and well-known player in the political process. He was the first founder and first fighter in the Iraqi arena."

Baghdad Resident, said, "We received the news of al-Hakim's death with great sorrow. He was leading the Iraqi united alliance. May almighty God rest this great man in paradise."
