In Turkey, the state-run Anatolia news agency says 14 people are dead and dozens stranded in their vehicles as flash floods gushed across an Istanbul highway.

The floods occurred early Wednesday morning as people were on their way to work. Istanbul firefighters recovered seven bodies at a truck parking lot in the city's Ikitelli district. Seven more bodies were recovered outside a textile factory in the nearby district of Halkali. The heavy rains caused two Istanbul streams to swell and overflow, inundating dozens of homes and workplaces.
