Japanese FM: To strengthen relationship with US

The new Japanese foreign minister says he will work to strengthen the relationship between Japan and the United States.

Katsuya Okada says this year he will focus on the Japan-US nuclear treaty, and the issue of relocating the US Okinawa military base.

Meanwhile, the new defense minister of Japan, Toshimi Kitazawa says the democratic party plans to call back fleets patrolling the Indian Ocean.

The ruling Democratic Party proposes not to prolong the patrol, since a deadline has been reached.
