Indonesian police have raided a house near the capital,Jakarta, shooting dead 2 suspected al-Qaida-linked militants. They were wanted in the suicide bombings of the city's luxury hotels.
One of the dead militants is believed to have recruited two young bombers for July 17th strikes on the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels.
Police believe he sought funding overseas for militant attacks in Indonesia. He is also said to have been a leading member of a militant cell run by the late Malaysian mastermind Noordin Top. A third militant detained earlier led police to the hideout at a student boarding house.
