China, Kyrgyzstan pledge greater cooperation

Chinese leaders have met with Kyrgyz Prime Minister, Igor Chudinov, who is in Beijing for an official visit and also attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization prime minister's meeting.

Chinese President Hu Jintao said since diplomatic ties were established 17 years ago, Sino-Kyrgyz relations have been increasingly strengthened and promoted.

China and Kyrgyzstan support and cooperate each other in the multilateral framework of the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Chudinov said no political differences exist between Kyrgyzstan and China. And Kyrgyzstan values their sound mutual trust.

During his meeting with the Kyrgyz Prime Minister, Premier Wen says Kyrgyzstan has become China's third largest trading partner among the Commonwealth of Independent States. Statistics from the Chinese Customs show trade volume between China and Kyrgyzstan reached more than 9.3 billion US dollars, nearly one and a half times greater than the previous year.

Chudinov noted it's one of Kyrgzstan's diplomatic priorities to enhance cooperation with China. Wen Jiabao also met with his Kazakh counterpart, Karim Masimov, Tajikistani counterpart, Akil Akilov, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Afghan Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili, and Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
