Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping is continuing his five-nation European trip in Romania. On Monday, he held talks with leaders from that country's Parliament. Vice President Xi also attended the the China-Romania Economic & Trade Forum, and called for enhanced mutually beneficial cooperation.
During his meeting with Mircea Geoana, speaker of Romania's Senate, Xi Jinping said that the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Romania 60 years ago was a milestone in the development of bilateral relations.
Despite the changing international situation, the two peoples have always respected each other, treated each other equally, and valued each other's interests and concerns during the past six decades.
Geoana lauded Xi's visit to Bucharest, adding that all of his nation's political factions are highly consistent in developing Romania-China relations and are willing to strengthen all-around pragmatic bilateral cooperation.
During his meeting with Roberta Anastase, speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Xi said that China highly appreciates Romania's support on major issues regarding Taiwan, Tibet, and Xinjiang -- which are concerns relating to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He added that China highly values bilateral friendly relations with Romania, and expects to work with the country to expand their pragmatic cooperation.
Anastase said the Romanian parliament hopes to further strengthen exchanges with China's National People's Congress, and is ready to help promote economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
