China firmly opposes EU statement

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu says China is strongly dissatisfied with, and firmly opposed to, an EU statement released by the Swedish EU presidency on Thursday.

The statement denounced the recent death penalty handed down to two Tibetans involved in the Lhasa riot, while also urging China to abolish capital sentences.

Ma Zhaoxu said this is an internal affair and no country should interfere.
