A heavy stream of world headlines has been dedicated to the Pakistani military's offensive against the Taliban over the past two weeks. On Monday, two deadly suicide attacks struck the country, killing nearly 40 people and wounding many others. Residents in the affected areas have expressed anxiety over the current state of the nation's security situation.

This branch of the National Bank of Pakistan was the scene of Monday's tragedy. People were queuing up for their salaries, when the attacker struck.

At least 35 people were killed, and dozens of others injured.

Residents of Rawalpindi described Monday's painful moments.

Javed Iqbal, Rawalpindi Resident, said, "This is a cruel act because most people lost their lives. People came here to receive their monthly pensions. I heard that a man who was killed came to receive his first salary."
