U.S.: DPRK violates UN resolutions

2009-11-04 09:04 BJT

The US government is accusing the Democratic People's Republic of Korea of violating UN Security Council resolutions by producing material, that is useable in nuclear weapons. The U.S. is urging the country back to the six-party process.

The DPRK announced on Tuesday, they had reprocessed all their 8,000 spent nuclear rods in August. This is a key step in increasing its nuclear arsenal.

South Korea says it will cooperate closely in the effort to persuade Pyongyang to return to six-party talks, until then it will keep a close eye on Pyongyang's activities.
