The PLA's Navy training ship, "Zhenghe," has arrived at the Japanese port of Kure for a four-day goodwill visit. It's the first trip to Japan by the ship, and only the second time the Chinese Navy has sent such a military vessel to visit the country.

More than 230 cadets from China Naval Engineering University, the Naval Aeronautical Engineering Institute, and Navy sailors are on board the "Zhenghe." Staff members from the Chinese Embassy in Japan, and overseas Chinese in the country, greeted them at the port. During the visit, commander in chief Liu Yi will call on high-ranking officials from Japan's naval self-defense forces.

Meanwhile, the cadets on the "Zhenghe" will also carry out professional knowledge exchanges with their Japanese counterparts. Two Chinese cadets will be selected to receive full-course training with the Japanese Navy's self-defense force as well.
