Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
The World Health Organization says that the number of A/H1-N1 flu deaths has reached more than 5,700 worldwide since the virus was first discovered in April. It is a tough fight against the virus.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said Wednesday that the nation was facing "special factors of risk" as it struggles to contain a suspected A/H1-N1 flu outbreak.
Viktor Yushchenko, Ukrainian President, said, "In contrast to epidemics in other countries, in Ukraine we have three causes of grave viral infections -- two seasonal flu's and the Californian one. According to virologists, such combinations of infections as a result of mutations may lead to the emergence of an even more aggressive new virus."
